Welcome to the e-learning platform of the ENFSI Textile & Hair Group!
This e-learning environment was created to provide the ETHG community with a remotely accessible, expandable and consistent resource for unified training and education, in order to support you and your institute’s education and training efforts with interactive and visually engaging guidance on key processes of forensic hair and fibre examination.
Whether you are a trainee and new to the field or you are an experienced practitioner aiming to complement or refresh your knowledge, here you can pick learning modules and training activities from four different courses, depending on your individual training needs:
- From the Crime Scene to the Laboratory: case assessment, packaging and documentation, recovery methods, anti-contamination and sampling strategies
- Microscopy: fundamental concepts of the important microscopic techniques, e.g. brightfield, polarisation and fluorescence, among others. Further modules provide guidance and tools for the discrimination, identification and comparison of fibres as well as human and animal hairs
- Microspectrophotometry (MSP): fundamental concepts, sampling and analysis and interpretation of spectra
- FTIR:fundamental concepts and sample preparation
- Textile Damage Examination (NEW! 30.09.2024): forensic textile examination with focus on textile damage: fundamental concepts, physical fit, damage types and simulations
- Evaluative Reporting and Interpretation (NEW! 30.09.2024): fundamentals to carry out effective interpretation of findings and to present them to a decision maker
- Raman Spectroscopy (NEW! 30.09.2024): fundamental concepts and sample preparation
The ETHG e-learning platform is open for all ETHG members and associates free of charge.
